“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” ~  Anais Nin

I am learning.  I am growing.

I do not know when the current transitioning will conclude, nor do I know what my thinking about “it all” will be when the ride stops, but I am grateful, in this very moment, to experience peace and trust that the process is necessary, it is valuable, it is FOR me ~ not against me. Grow ~

“Do not stand at my grave and weep.  I am not there.  I do not sleep.  I am in a thousand winds that blow.  I am the softly falling snow.  I am the gentle showers of rain.  I am the fields of ripening grain.  I am in the morning hush.  I am in the graceful rush.  Of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am the starshine of the night.  I am in the flowers that bloom.  I am in a quiet room.  I am in the birds that sing.  I am in each lovely thing.  Do not stand at my grave and cry.  I am not there.  I do not die. “ ~ Mary Elizabeth Frye Continue reading

fidelity to the self ~

I have enjoyed the great companionship and deep themes each day from Mark Nepo’s “daily” book, AWAKENINGS.

This morning, I was especially moved by today’s passage.  Shared below word-for-word.

APRIL 14

“SELF-CONFIDENCE”

“It may have nothing to do with me, but if a friend or loved one is sad or angry, I can secretly wonder, What did I do?  What can I do?  Why didn’t I do it all better to begin with?” ~ Mark Nepo

I am often surprised and humbled by how quickly in my insecurity, I can begin to assume responsibility for all the wrongs and sufferings I see around me.   When thrown off-center, when old patterns return, when feeling exhausted or depressed, I so quickly become the exaggerated cause of all that is not right with the world. that which i seek is seeking me ~

“That which I seek is seeking me.” (by Ernest Holmes)

I could have stopped reading his quote with this line.  It would have been easy as tears flooded my eyes.  I felt seen, heard, found, and held.  I’m not sure of all of the source of my emotion, but I’m okay with that.  I will follow the fence line, the view, the calling. Continue reading

have your eyes really seen…

“Don’t be ashamed of what you want or feel that you shouldn’t have the desires that you do.  Your desires are holy.  You didn’t make them up.  They were implanted in you by God.”  ~ Edwene Gaines

This quote caught me by surprise.  Reading Julia Cameron’s “Prosperous Heart” quotations typically resonate deeply within me.  This one brought tears that tendered me. Continue reading

just breathe ~

“As a man in his last breath
drops all he is carrying
each breath is a little breath
than can set us free.”

~~  from “The Book of Awakening:  Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have” by Mark Nepo

Greetings Dear Ones ~
Below I offer the words from the above book, the passage for today ~
the last day of January 2012 ~ entitled:

Practicing

Breathing is the fundamental unit of risk, the atom of inner courage that leads us into authentic living.  With each breath, we practice opening, taking in, and releasing.  Literally, the teacher is under our nose.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
~~ Anne Frank

“Transformation is not five minutes from now; it’s a present activity. In this moment you can make a different choice, and it’s these small choices and successes that build up over time…” ~~ Jillian Michaels

“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.”   ~~ Rosabeth Moss Kanter

January 4, 2012.   Happy New Year. Happy Leap Year.  Happy Year of the Dragon.

After quiet morning pages, after reading passages from The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo, Julia Cameron’s Artist’s Way Every Day, and Tiny Buddha by Lori Deschene,  I sit here with a somewhat cautious energy of not wanting to accidentally disrupt this delicate bubble of presence.  I also sit with a smile of knowing that life moves onward.  That because I also choose life and choose to live, that most definitely, I will pop my little bubble-wall. “All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love this little tree reaching through into the unknown, surviving whatever life gives it, and bringing such a smile to my spirit.  It seeks to live, to be itself ~ Even though it might prefer more water, more warmth, less wind, less aloneness.  It grows because it can and because that is its nature.  Continue reading

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”  ~Lao Tzu

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” ~Chinese Proverb

Years ago, I was shown a gift a former girlfriend had given my “then” boyfriend.  Pammy (the ex-girlfriend) was a hair stylist and she’d been dating Gary (the boyfriend) for years. One thing, she gave to him during their relationship, that he appreciated and enjoyed, was cutting his hair.

During their romantic relationship, she wanted so much more from him than he wanted to give and so, their relationship was always this precarious swing leaving her in lack and want, leaving him with alternate guilt and resistance.  Continue reading
